The Laverton Community Centre provides Emergency Relief to those in financial and personal crisis who live within the 3028 postcode. Emergency Relief operates from The Laverton Hub (95-105 Railway Avenue) Monday, Wednesday and Friday (except on public holidays) between the hours of 10am – 1.00pm, no appointments required.
As workers we need to find a way that maintains the client’s dignity and encourages self-reliance. There are a number of issues a client may present with and assistance can be provided in a number of ways.
Client issues may include the following:
- Financial difficulty (including utility bills, lack of money for food or rent.)
- Dealing with public authorities
- Health issues
- Emotional well being
- Victim of crime (such as stolen wallet or house burglary)
- Family conflict
Laverton Community Integrated Services providers Emergency relief as part of the CIS Vic (http://www.cisvic.org.au) consortium and on behalf of the Department of Social Services. We work with Foodbank and Oz Harvest to ensure we have a combination of fresh and non-perishable produce with which to assist as well as multiple other local community organisations who support our efforts via can drives, fundraising events and other charitable gifts.
