LCIS's Acknowledgement of Country
We recognise that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the right to be treated with dignity and respect at all times as the original custodians of this land.
We pay respect to the commitment and contribution to community of all Aboriginal and Torres Straitrait Islander people here with us.
We acknowledge the First People of this region: a network of diverse communities now known as the Kulin Nation. For tens of thousands of years, the Kulin cultivated the health of these grasslands and waterways, educating their children to care for Country.
We acknowledge that Laverton was founded without proper consultation, recognition or involvement of the Aboriginal people who lived here first.
We pay respect to the courage, wisdom and resilience of Elder’s, past and present, who negotiated new ways to live on this land.
We meet to consider our responsibility to work as equal partners for the health of future generations.
