Friday Drop In
The Urban Arts Friday drop in provides young people in Laverton with a safe and friendly space from 3.15pm – 5.30pm every Friday@ Wood Street Art Space. Anyone aged 12 – 19 is welcome to come along and enjoy FIFA competitions, art and sport activities, prizes, free food and other activities such as dance workshops and cooking.

Excursions include swimming at Aquapulse, BBQ’s at local attractions and visiting local sporting facilities.

The Nosh Van (run by White Lion) visits every Friday at around 5pm in Wood Street to provide free food & drinks for young people to take home. If you are interested in coming along on a Friday, please fill out the form and return to lavertonyouthfoundation@lcis.org.au

Each term ends with an end of term celebration, with competitions, prizes, food and games. End of Term Celebrations are held at Wood Street Art Space or at a venue like Flip Out Derrimut.

Headspace MeetUp

headspace MeetUp is a group for young people aged between 16-25 years, interested in meeting new people, participating in fun activities and hanging out together! It’s a casual group, so join a session when you can. The group runs every Wednesday during term time at 3.30 – 5pm at headspace Werribee. Got a good idea for a potential group activity? Multicultural Cooking Lessons

Laverton Youth Foundation offers free 8 week cooking courses for young people aged 15 – 25years. Each workshop is delivered by a different tutor who will take you on a culinary tour of the world and culminates in a Community Cook for friends and family. Participants will benefit from the expertise of chefs who own and run their own restaurants as well as receive nutritional information from White Lion (NOSH van) and Fire Safety provided by MFB. Over the 8 week course, participants will learn cooking techniques, knife skills, fire & kitchen safety and how to match flavour combinations.

Participants will also receive a pack that includes their own set of knives, chopping boards, apron and fire blanket. Finally, each participant will gain an Accredited Unit ‘Use Hygienic Practices for Food Safety’.
